The
Glory Road is a slice of American history, a close-up
of a colorful family in the Deep South in the 1950’s, set against
the emerging rockabilly music phenomenon. It’s a drama featuring
indigenous music, a gripping story leavened with humor, and a
sensual experience replete with the language of the region and
the comfort of Southern food. The Joneses are evangelists and gospel singers traveling
to tent revivals and churches in the Deep South just before television
changes things. While
introducing a unique and colorful way of life, this play is ultimately
a universal story about family and the deals they make to keep
from coming apart. |
