DAYDREAM BELIEVER
by Anita Garner
He smiles at me and the daydream begins. It goes like this. At a red light on Lombard, he’ll motion for me to roll down my window. He’ll ask for my cell phone number. I’ll repeat it twice. He is that attractive.
He’s on his cell phone now. I see that the woman in the car behind me is also on her phone. When he talks, she listens. When she talks, he listens. It appears the two of them are having a conversation. I am immediately over him. A new daydream begins. There’s just enough time for one more.
